Editor note: Light earthy and dried vegetal notes on the nose, hint of bacon, red and a few dark berries, some almonds and tar. Fairly mature, ripe fruit on the palate, nutty and earthy notes, dried floral notes, fine sandy tannins, light acid bite, herbaceous traces, good persistence, hint of coffee and cocoa, peppery traces, hint of mushrooms, prominent hazel nuts on a tart finish.
Best to drink: 2020-2024+
The German growing area Franconia used to be in the three areas Maindreieck. Mainviereck and Steigerwald with 23 large layers and 216 individual layers. In November 2011 a new regulation was decided by the members of the Franconian Wine Association. The three old areas will be replaced by 12 much smaller ones. In the medium to long term, these will also replace the 23 large locations. The old areas once played a role in the predominant marketing of Franconian table wine, which they had lost for a long time.
