2012 Nierstein Hipping Riesling ***, Rheinhessen, Germany

Cool, bright, slightly muted, somewhat planty to herbal citrus stone fruit nose. Lean, bright, rather tart fruit, fine, quite lively acidity, slightly muted on the palate, mineral tones, herbs and a hint of dark berries, persistent on the palate, relatively lean style, some depth, very good, tight finish with tart minerality and plenty of bite. No longer has quite the energy of earlier times, but still enough tension for much drinking pleasure.
