The estate is located in the commune of Sommerhausen (Maindreieck area) in the German wine-growing region Franconia, It was founded in 1435 by Schenk Konrad IV von Limpurg (1396–1482). The coronation wines of German kings and emperors have been produced here for centuries as the “cellar” of the inheritance of the Holy Roman Empire. The Steinmann family bought the old castle estate in 1968 and renovated it true to the original. The family's roots go back to 1537.
