The Leopold and Silvane Sommer winery is located in the municipality of Donnerskirchen in the
Leithaberg DAC region of Burgenland (Austria). There is documentary evidence that the family has been growing grapes since 1698. A guesthouse is attached. The vineyards cover 20 hectares. The white varieties Grüner Veltliner (6.5 ha), Welschriesling (3 ha), Riesling, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Muskat-Ottonel, Gewürztraminer and Rivaner account for 75% of the vineyards, while the red varieties Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon, St. Laurent and Merlot account for 25%. Leopold Sommer is also known as "Mister Veltliner" because, rather unusually for Burgenland, top wines are vinified from this variety in the four variants "L&T" (light and dry), "Classic", "Premium M" and "Reserve". Other premium wines are the "Cuvée Noire Leithaberg" (Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch), the white wine cuvée "Primus Pannonikus" (Grüner Veltliner, Rivaner), Sauvignon Blanc Premium and Blaufränkisch Premium. Fine brandies, bottle-fermented sparkling wine and a
fair wine are also produced. Exports are made to Germany, England, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and the USA. The winery is a member of the two winegrowers' associations Weinquartett Donnerskirchen and Vinology
