The winery, first mentioned in 1918, is located in the Kapfenstein municipality in the wine-growing region Vulkanland Steiermark (Austria) near the border with Slovenia, It has been managed by the third generation of Georg Winkler-Hermaden since 1981, who became the master winegrower in 1986 Silberberg completed. The castle on Kapfensteiner Kogel, which was mentioned in a document in 1065, belongs to the family. An attraction is the 350-year-old "long cellar" with a length of 60 meters, which was renovated until 1997. This is where the red wines mature in barriques, as well as seminars, tastings and cultural events. The wines are pressed in the “Löwenkeller”, which is carved into the mountain and is over 200 years old. The additional "Dragon Cellar" is an extension from 1999.
