2011 Westhofen Morstein Riesling Grosses Gewächs trocken, Rheinhessen, Germany

Clearly developed, somewhat nutty and a touch buttery aroma of very ripe yellow fruit with herbal and floral nuances and a certain minerality in the background. Ripe, firm, tart yellow fruit, nutty and still slightly yeasty spiciness, very fine, yet quite taut acidity, dense, deep and persistent on the palate, smoky traces, intense, light minerality, also has clear maturity on the palate at first, but becomes fresher, more exciting and compelling with air, long, taut, again tart-juicy and intensely mineral finish. Only shows what it can do on the second day.
