2014 Westhofen Morstein Riesling Grosses Gewächs trocken, Rheinhessen, Germany

Firm and deep, rather cool, light floral and vegetal, slightly developed stone fruit and citrus nose, herbaceous-vegetable and peppery notes, some white bread, vegetal notes, light mineral notes, but also dark tones in the background. Firm, bright, again rather cool fruit, almondy-nutty tones, slightly reminiscent of white bread and white pepper, fine, lively acidity, dark smoky hints and plenty of minerality, has grip, plenty of power but no heaviness, a little green chilli in the background, good depth, long, firm, grippy, juicy and spicy finish.

Editor note: Deep, dense and gripping nose, yellow-fruity, fine herbaceous, still a bit yeasty, hinted at floral and intensely mineral. Very present in the mouth, complex, juicy, delicately spicy and herbal, citrus zest, stone fruit and a hint of quince, deep and lasting, very solid structure, fairly clear minerality, still extremely young, fine tannin and present, very fine acidity, elegant with all its strength , deep, gripping and long. Must ripen.
