The winery is located in the municipality of Iphofen (Steigerwald area) in the German wine-growing region of Franconia. The tithe cellar was temporarily the seat of the Iphofen tithe court, i.e. the fiscal jurisdiction at the time. It has been family-owned since the beginning of the 20th century. A hotel with restaurant is attached. Gabriele Seufert is the owner, Johannes Weickert is the cellar master. The vineyards cover 27 hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Julius-Echter-Berg, Kalb and Kronsberg (Iphofen). They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling, Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Bacchus and Scheurebe, as well as the red wine varieties Frühburgunder, Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir), Cabernet Sauvignon, Blaufränkisch, Dornfelder, Merlot and St. Laurent.
Since the 2012 vintage, the organic cultivation introduced in 2009 has been carried out according to the certified organic rules of the Bioland association. Quality-enhancing measures in the vineyard include restrained pruning and consistent yield regulation. The grapes for the premium wines of the "SZ" (Selektion Zehntkeller) line are thinned out three times. The vinification and maturation of the wines takes place in the old, spacious cellar rooms with ideal temperatures three floors below ground. The red wines are aged partly in stainless steel and partly in barrique, depending on the type of wine. With the exception of a barrique Chardonnay, the white wines are vinified in stainless steel with the aim of producing fruit-driven wines. In years with suitable weather conditions, noble sweet wines are also vinified. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines, noble brandies (plum, mirabelle plum water, pomace from Merlot, William Christ pear, brandy), grape juice and verjus are also produced. Around 180,000 bottles of wine are marketed annually.
