The estate is located in the municipality of Hohenwarth in the southwest of the Lower Austrian wine region Weinviertel
, The grandfather Johann Wagner was one of the first winemakers in Austria to start bottling wine in 1920. The long tradition of the business is demonstrated by a vintage in 1927 in the estate's own wine store. Today the estate is managed by Ing. Alois Zeilinger. The vineyards cover ten hectares of vines on primary rock soils and fertile Schwemmlöss in, for example, the vineyards of Hintaus, Hochstraß, Krumpenthal, Laa, Lehen, Mühlweg and Steinbruch. They are planted with the white varieties Grüner Veltliner, Frühroter Veltliner
, Rivaner, Chardonnay, Riesling and Muskat Ottonel, as well as the red varieties Blauburger, Pinot Noir and Rotburger.
The quality standard is based on environmentally conscious cultivation of the vineyards, voluntary reduction in yield to an average of 40 hl / ha, manual harvesting in several passes and gentle cellar technology. Whole grapes are pressed with white and cool, slow fermentation. The red wines are fermented using traditional mash fermentation and then remain on the mash for a long time. The wines of the "Classic" series are filled in 0.375 liter, 0.75 liter and 1.5 liter bottles (Magnum). Premium wines include Grüner Veltliner Lehen and Grüner Veltliner Winberg , Grüner Veltliner von der Hefe, Frühroter Veltliner
red Frühroter Veltliner
Hintaus, Chardonnay Hohenwarther Freiheit, as well as the red wines Pinot Noir quarry and Blauburger quarry. In suitable years there are also noble sweet Trockenbeerenausleseen. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced.
