The estate is located in the commune of Höflein in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region Carnuntum, The family has been wine-growing here since 1752. The traditional family business is now run by the sixth generation of siblings Hannes and Doris Zwickelstorfer. Doris discovered her love of wine in the "Willamet Valley Vineyards" in Oregon and gained further experience through international practices in Argentina in the wineries "Diminio del Plata" and South Africa "Kaapzicht". Hannes practiced in California, French and Spanish cellars after wine school. The goal of the two is to continue the viticulture built by the father Johann in the most original form. In recent years, the vineyards have been converted to natural management with activation of the natural cycle. The goal is balanced, healthy vineyards and wines with a distinctive character, independence and storage potential. The vineyards cover 12 hectares of vineyards, half of which are planted with red wine and white wine. Around 50% of the red wine areas are planted with vines aged 30 to 40, mainly the Zweigelt and Blauer Portugieser varieties. The other part is young vineyards with the Zweigelt, St. Laurent, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties. The white wines are Grüner Veltliner, Welschriesling, Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay. The wines are aged in steel tanks or wooden barrels and produced in the three lines Basis, Premium and Reserve. The flagship of the house is the “Zweigelt Hoherweg”, which has been aged in barrels for 36 months.
