The estate is located in the village Girlan (Cornaiano) near Bolzano in the Italian wine-growing area South-Tirol
(Region Trentino-Alto Adige
). The traditional business was founded in 1820 by Josef Weger I. This is one of the pioneers of the South Tyrolean wine industry and even then delivered his wines to Switzerland and the various countries of the Austrian Empire. Attached are a restaurant and a residence with 18 apartments. The current owner is Josef Weger V. Since 1990, son Johannes has taken over the management of the winery in the sixth generation. The vineyards cover three hectares of vineyards, of another five hectares of grapes are purchased. The white varieties Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Müller-Thurgau, Gewürztraminer, Sauvignon Blanc and Ruländer, as well as the red varieties Vernatsch, Lagrein, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Franc processed.
The red wines are gently fermented by flooding the mash with the carbon dioxide produced during fermentation, without any mechanical intervention. The large product range includes, among other things, various wines of the DOC areas Kalterersee

and South Tyrol
, In 2004, a new farm line of premium wines "Maso delle Rose" (Rosenhof) was created. The premium wines include Pinot Noir Riserva and the Cuvée Joanni (Lagrein, Merlot, Cabernet Franc), which are both aged for 18 months in oak barrels. Every year around 80,000 bottles of wine are produced. An export takes place to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, England, USA and Japan. The winery is a member of the associations wineries South Tyrol and Unione Vini Italiana.
