2008 Südtirol / Alto Adige DOC Lagrein Riserva, Alto Adige, Italy

Preserved sour cherries and black berries on the nose, smoky and light vegetal notes, tart herbs and spices, dried flowers, very light animal and earthy notes. Initially quite cool on the palate, fairly juicy, ripe, but also slightly dissolute dark fruit, toasted oak and chocolate, light acid bite, persistent, has substance, full-bodied, but slightly overdone, hint of solvent in the background, dissolute, partly overripe fruit, toasted oak and chocolate again on a fairly good finish.
