Description to Ászár-Neszmély

The wine region is in the northwest Hungary north of the Balaton (Lake Balaton) near the Slovakia, The family laid here in the 19th century Esterházy Vineyards and established modern viticulture. Neszmély now has the most modern Hilltop winery. The vineyards on sandy and loess soil cover around 1,900 hectares of vineyards. The most important grape varieties are Chardonnay, Ezerjó, Irsai Olivér, Leányka (girl's grape), Olasz Rizling (Welschriesling), Rizlingszilváni (Müller-Thurgau), Sauvignon Blanc, Szürkebarat (Pinot Gris) and Füszeres Tramini (Gewürztraminer). Above all, acidic and full-bodied white wines with storage potential are produced. Well-known producers are Hilltop Neszmély and Szöllősi Pincészet.
