Description to Clos des Lambrays AOC

Grand cru location or appellation in the community Morey-Saint-Denis in the Burgundian area Cote d'Or, It was first mentioned in the middle of the 14th century after a noble family as "Clos de Lambrey". After the French Revolution (1789), the property was auctioned and completely dismembered. In 1981 the location was classified as a Grand Cru. After an eventful history with numerous owners, the Domaine des Lambrays was taken over almost entirely by the German industrialist Günter Freund with his son Hans-Joachim in 1996. Only a tiny 4.2 ares parcel belongs to the Domaine Taupenot.

The east-facing vineyard at around 300 meters above sea level covers 8.7 hectares of vineyards with marl and limestone soils in the upper area. It is surrounded by a wall. The Grand Cru location is to the north Clos Saint-Denis, the Grand Cru location closes to the south Clos de Tart on. The location is divided into the four climates (parcels) Les Bouchots, Lambray, Les Larrets and Meix-Reindeer. The extremely long-lived red wine is made almost exclusively from Pinot Noir vinified. However, Pinot Beurot ( Pinot gris ) and Pinot Liébault, theoretically, up to 15% Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc be used. The fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, The wine is vinified separately according to plots, usually up to 50% of the harvest is declassified and as Morey-Saint-Denis Premier Cru marketed. The expansion takes place in up to 75% new ones , It does happen beautiful with egg white, but none filtration, Around 35,000 bottles are produced annually.
