Description to Colli Euganei DOC

DOC area for red and white wines in the Po Valley in the Italian region Veneto, The wine from this area was already sung in the 14th century by the poet Francesco Petrarca (1304-1374), who retired here in old age and did wine-growing. The area comprises around 1,300 hectares of vineyards on volcanic and heavily calcareous mountain slopes with the 603 meter high Monte Venda southwest of Padua. These are completely the municipalities Arquà Petrarca, Galzignano Terme and Torreglia, as well as parts of the municipalities Abano Terme, Baone, Battaglia Terme, Cervarese Santa Croce, Cinto Euganeo, Due Carrare, Este, Lozzo Atestino, Monselice, Montegrotto Terme, Rovolon, Selvazzano Dentro, Teolo and Vò in the province of Padova.

The varietal wines must contain at least 85% of the respective variety. The white wines are Chardonnay. Garganega. Manzoni Bianco, Moscato ( Muscat Blanc ), Pinot Bianco ( Pinot Blanc ), Sauvignon ( Sauvignon Blanc ) and Tai ( Sauvignonasse ). The red wines are Cabernet (Cabernet Franc and / or Cabernet Sauvignon and / or Carmenère), Cabernet Franc. Cabernet Sauvignon. Carmenère. Merlot (also as Novello ) and Raboso ( Raboso Piave and or Raboso Veronese ).

The Bianco is made from Garganega (30%), Tai and / or Sauvignon (30%), Moscato Bianco and / or Moscato Giallo Goldmuskateller (5-10%), as well as other approved varieties (max. 30%) blended. The Rosso is made from Merlot (40-80%), Cabernet Franc and / or Cabernet Sauvignon and / or Carmenère (20-60%), as well as Raboso Piave and / or Raboso Veronese (max. 10%). a Spumante there are from Bianco, Moscato, Serprino ( Glera ) and Pinello ( Pinella ). a Frizzante are from Serprino and Pinello. a Riserva with longer maturation there are from Rosso, Cabernet, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, Merlot and Raboso.

The one made from Moscato Giallo Colli Euganei Fior d'Arancio received the DOCG classification in 2011.
