Description to Côtes Catalanes

IGP area in the French winegrowing region Roussillon, It was created in 2003 by merging the two former VdP areas Coteaux des Fenouillèdes and Vals d'Agly. Côtes Catalanes covers almost the entire département Pyrenees-Orientales with the exception of the four municipalities of Banyuls-sur-Mer, Cerbère, Collioure and Port-Vendres (which form the IGP area Côte Vermeille). It is mainly red wines and produced in smaller quantities rosé and white wines. The most important red wines are Grenache Noir ( Garnacha Tinta ), Mourvèdre ( Monastrell ) Cabernet Sauvignon. Syrah and Cinsault, the most important white wines Chardonnay. Sauvignon Blanc. Viognier and Vermentino, Well-known producers are Château La Casenove, Domaine Cazes, Domaine Ferrer-Ribière, Domaine Gauby, Mas Baux and Vignerons Catalans.
