Côtes Catalanes

Description to Côtes Catalanes

IGP area in the French wine region of Roussillon. It was created in 2003 by merging the two former VdP areas Coteaux des Fenouillèdes and Vals d'Agly. Côtes Catalanes covers almost the entire department of Pyrénées-Orientales, with the exception of the four communes of Banyuls-sur-Mer, Cerbère, Collioure and Port-Vendres (which form the Côte Vermeille IGP area). It produces mainly red wines and to a lesser extent rosé and white wines. The most important red wine varieties are Grenache Noir(Garnacha Tinta), Mourvèdre(Monastrell), Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Cinsaut. The most important white wine varieties are Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier and Vermentino.
