AOC area in the east of the French winegrowing region Provence with about four-fifths of the area. To the west are the two AOC areas Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence and Coteaux Varois, The vineyards cover about 20,000 hectares of vineyards in the three departments Alpes-Maritimes, Bouches-du-Rhône and var, By three different ones soil types and a variety of approved grape varieties, there are also different wine styles. About 80% of the production is rosé wines, which are bottled in a special conical bottle.
