Description to D.O. Manchuela

Huge area in the provinces of Albacete and Cuenca in Castilla-La Mancha in eastern central Spain, to the west to the DO La Mancha, to the northeast to the DO Requena and to the south to the DO Jumilla borders. The vineyards occupy a total. 75,000 hectares of vineyards. Of these, only 4,100 hectares were classified as DO in 2000, which are located between the river valleys of Júcar and Cabriel. The type of soil is profound clay marl with lime sediments. There is dry continental climate with hot summers with plenty of sunshine and relatively cold winters. The red dominates throughout the area Bobal with 70% of the stock. Other permitted red varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cencibel (Tempranillo), Garnacha Tinta, Merlot, Monastrell, Moravia Dulce and Syrah. Licensed white varieties are the 90% dominant Viura (Macabeo), Albillo de Albacete, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
