Description to D.O. Sierras de Málaga

This DO area corresponds geographically to the DO area Malaga and thus includes just under 1,200 hectares of vineyards. The classification was only made in 2001 and includes red wines, rosé wines and white wines with less than 15% vol alcohol. The red and rosé wines are mainly blended from the varieties Romé, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Tempranillo. Garnacha Tinta, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir and Petit Verdot are also approved. The white wines are mainly produced from the Pedro Ximénez, Moscatel de Málaga (Muscat d'Alexandrie), Moscatel Morisco (Muscat Blanc), Chardonnay, Macabeo and Sauvignon Blanc varieties. Lairén (Airén), Doradilla and Colombard are also approved.
