Description to Erice DOC
DOC area for red and white wines in the Italian region and island Sicily, The previous classification from IGT to DOC was carried out in 2011. The zone comprises the entire municipality of Buseto Palizzolo, as well as parts of Castellammare del Golfo, Custonaci, Erice, Paceco, Trapani and Valderice in the province of Trapani.
The Bianco is made from the Catarratto game species Catarratto Bianco Comune and Catarratto Bianco Lucido (to 60%), as well as other approved varieties (max. 40%) pressed. The Rosso (also called Riserva ) is made from Calabrese (60%) and other approved varieties (max. 40%).
The wine types Passito (Moscato di Alessandria), Vendemmia tardiva Sauvignon and Vendemmia tardiva Zibibbo ( Spätlesen ) must contain at least 95% of the respective variety. The Spumante Brut is made from Chardonnay (70%), the Spumante Dolce from Zibibbo (95%).
