Description to Faugères AOC

The appellation is located in the center of the French winegrowing region Languedoc, The red wine was classified in 1982, the white wine in 2005 as AOC. The wines belong to the highest quality category "Crus du Languedoc". East of it lies Saint-Chinian, The vineyards cover about 2,000 vineyards at 250 meters above sea level on the predominant here as "Monts de Faugères" designated slate and clay soils in strong slopes of the Montagne Noire (foothills of the Cevennes). They cover the seven communes of Autignac, Cabrerolles, Caussiniojouls, Faugères, Fos, Laurens and Roquessels in the department Hérault,

Red wine and rosé are made from Carignan Noir ( mazuelo ) Cinsault, Grenache Noir ( Garnacha Tinta ), Lladoner Pelut ( Garnacha Peluda ), Mourvèdre ( Monastrell ) and Syrah blended. The white wine is made from Grenache Blanc ( Garnacha Blanca ) Marsanne. Roussanne and role ( Vermentino ), as Bourboulenc. Carignan Blanc. Clairette Blanche and Macabeo generated. Of the Eau-de-vie Fine Faugères is also classified as AOC. Well-known producers are Domaine Alquier, Domaine Léon Barral. Domaine de Cébène Château de Estanilles, Château de Grézan, CV de Laurens, Château la Liquière, Maurel Vedeau, Domaine du Météore and Domaine Ollier-Taillefer.
