Description to Fleurie AOC
One of the ten cru vineyards in the French Beaujolais area, named after the commune of the same name. The vineyards cover 875 hectares of vines on soils of granite gravel with a high manganese content. They are divided into 13 climats (individual vineyards), whose names may be mentioned on the label. At an altitude of 425 metres, the landmark of the appellation is a small chapel with a statue of the Madonna, from where one can enjoy a view over the entire region. The elegant, full-bodied red wines are made from the Gamay variety.
