Description to Ghemme DOCG

DOCG area for red wine in the Italian region Piedmont, It was classified as a DOC in 1969 and then highly classified in 1995. The name goes to the Celtic Folk tribe of the Agamiker back, who have already done viticulture here. The zone comprises around 50 hectares of vineyards in the two municipalities of Ghemme and Romagnano Sesia on the eastern side of the Sesia Valley in the province of Novara. The ruby, spicy wine with a slightly bitter finish is made from Spanna Nebbiolo (85%) and Vespolina and or Uva Rara (up to max. 15%) pressed. The prescribed maturation time is 34 months, of which 18 months in wooden barrels. At the Riserva this is 46 months, including 24 in wooden barrels.
