DOCG area for white wine in the Italian region Campania, The high classification was made in 2003. The zone includes the municipalities Altavilla Irpina, Chiance, Montefusco, Petruro Irpino, Prata di Principato Ultra, Santa Paolina, Torrioni and Tufo in the province of Avellino. The vineyards are located at 450 to 500 meters above sea level. The wine is made Greco (to 85%) and if necessary Coda di Volpe Bianca (max. 15%) pressed. The Spumante is based on the Metodo Classico ( bottle fermentation ) produces and has to mature on the yeast for 36 months. Well-known producers are Benito Ferrara, Le Masciare, Mastroberardino (Bulk of the crowd) and Villa Matilde.
