Description to Hajós-Baja

The wine-growing region is located in the south of Hungary in the Hungarian Plain (Alföld). Until 1997 it was called Hajós-Vaskút. The climate is characterised by extremely dry, hot summers. The vineyards on loess soil (as opposed to sand in the Alföld) cover about 2,100 hectares of vines. Mainly white wines are produced. The most important grape varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cserszegi Fűszeres, Chardonnay, Kadarka, Kékfrankos (Blaufränkisch), Rajnairizling (Rhine Riesling) and Zweigelt.
