Description to Kunság

Biggest winegrowing area in Hungary in the Pannonian Plain (Alföld) in the south of the country with about half of the Hungarian vineyards. Until the year 1997 it was called Kiskunság. The vineyards cover 28,000 hectares mainly on sandy soils. After the catastrophic Phylloxera disaster vines were planted here in the 19th century, because the pest was the sand does not tolerate.
