Description to Loupiac AOC

The appellation is in the south of the large area Entre-deux-Mers (Bordeaux). Winegrowing is documented here as early as the 13th century. It forms an enclave in the appellation Premières Cotes de Bordeaux, The vineyards cover 400 hectares of vineyards on loamy limestone soil on the right bank of the Garonne, Opposite on the other bank are the two better quality areas Barsac and Sauterne, The Loupiac appellation applies to White wines from the varieties Sémillon (at least 85%), Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle, which are considered the best sweet wines in the Entre-Deux-Mers area. Well-known wineries are Clos Jean, Château de Ricaud (owner Alain Thiénot ), Château Loupiac-Gaudiet and Château Rondillon.
