Description to Maranges AOC

The appellation, named after the municipality of the same name, with 180 hectares of vineyards is located in the Côte de Beaune part of the Burgundian region Cote d'Or, It was only created in 1989 by merging the three previously independent AC's Cheilly-lès-Maranges, Dezize-lès-Maranges and Sampigny-lès-Maranges. These three towns share the Les Maranges vineyard with the Premiers Crus Clos de la Boutière, Clos de la Fussière, Clos des Loyères, Clos des Rois, Clos Roussots, Croix Moines and Fussière. Almost exclusively red wines from Pinot Noir are made with parts of Pinot Gris and Pinot Liébault. These can also be used as Cote de Beaune or Cote de Beaune-Villages be marketed.
