DOCG area (also Sagrantino di Montefalco) for red wine in the Italian region Umbria, The classification was granted in 1993. The zone covers the entire township Montefalco (under this name there is also a DOC area) and parts of the municipalities Bevagna, Castel Ritaldi, Giano dell'Umbria and Gualdo Cattaneo in the province of Perugia. The dry red wine becomes 100% unmixed from the eponymous grape Sagrantino vinified. The alcohol content must be at least 13% vol. For the sweet Passito rosé grapes are 14.5% vol. The maturation period is at least 30 months for both, of which at least 12 months in oak barrels. Well-known producers include Adanti, Antonelli San Marco, Bocale, Caprai, Colpetrone, Goretti, Lungarotti. Perticaia, Rocca di Fabbri, Scacciadiavoli and Terre de Trinci.
