Description to Montlouis-sur-Loire AOC

After the eponymous municipality designated municipal appellation. It is located as an enclave in the center of the area Touraine east of the city of Tours. The existing since 1938 AC Montlouis was expanded in 2002 to its present name. The area is north of the Loire and bounded on the south by the tributary of Cher and is the more well-known Vouvray across from. The vineyards cover 240 hectares of vineyards flint containing, partly clay-covered clay soil. The white wine is pressed from Chenin Blanc (Pineau de la Loire) and dry to sweet expanded. The AC Montlouis-sur-Loire Mousseux applies to sparkling wines, the AC Montlouis-sur-Loire Pétillant to sparkling wines. Well-known producers include Berger, Domaine de Bodet, Domaine des Liards, Thierry Chaput, Delétang, Domaine de la Milletiere, Dominique Moyer and Frantz Saumon.
