Description to Montlouis-sur-Loire AOC

Municipal appellation named after the municipality of the same name. It is an enclave in the center of the area Touraine east of the city of Tours. AC Montlouis , which has existed since 1938, was expanded to its current name in 2002. The area is to the north of the Loire and bounded to the south by the Cher tributary and lies to the more famous Vouvray across from. The vineyards cover 240 hectares of vineyards flint containing, clay soils partially covered with sand. The white wine is made from Chenin Blanc (Pineau de la Loire) and aged from dry to sweet. The AC Montlouis-sur-Loire Mousseux applies to sparkling wine, the AC Montlouis-sur-Loire Pétillant applies to sparkling wine. Well-known producers are Berger, Domaine de Bodet, Domaine des Liards, Thierry Chaput, Delétang, Domaine de la Milletière, Dominique Moyer and Frantz Saumon.
