Description to Morgon AOC
One of the ten cru locations of the Beaujolais around the eponymous place Villié-Morgon. The vineyards cover 1,115 hectares of vineyards and are an average of 450 meters above sea level on basaltic rock and slate in the east, as well as sandy or siliceous soils in the north and west. You will be in six Climats (Layers) whose names appear on the label may be cited. The powerful red wines (especially Côte de Py) from the variety Gamay are among the most durable, which only develop after four to six years. This has also become synonymous, because "Morgonnisieren" means that one of Pinot Noir dominated the wine Cote d'Or are very similar. They apply to those of the crus Chénas and Moulin-à-Vent as the best of the Beaujolais (Vins de garde). Well-known producers are Louis-Claude Desvignes, Jean Foillard, M. Lapierre, Château de Pizay, Domaine Aucoeur, Domaine Dominique Piron, Domaine Jean Descombes and Domaine de la Roche Pillée.
