Muscat de Mireval AOC

Description to Muscat de Mireval AOC

The appellation is located in the south-east of the French wine-growing region Languedoc on the Mediterranean coast. It belongs to the second quality category "Grands Vins du Languedoc". The vineyards cover 290 hectares of vines on clay soils with a high iron oxide content and a reddish colour, interspersed with limestone. They are located on the slopes of the Montagne de la Gardiole, in two communes, Mireval and Vic-la-Gardiole, in the department of Hérault. It is one of the four vin doux naturel in Languedoc. It is made from 100% pure Muscat Blanc. Well known producers are CV Rabelais, Cave le Placard à Pinard and Domaine Mas Jacquet.
