Description to Pentro di Isernia DOC
DOC area (also Pentro) for red wines, rosé wines and white wines in the Italian region of Molise The name Pentro is derived from the ancient tribe of the Pentrer, who once lived in this area. The zone includes the municipalities of Agnone, Belmonte del Sannio, Castelverrino, Colli a Volturno, Fornelli, Isernia, Longano, Macchia d'Isernia, Miranda, Montaquila, Monteroduni, Pesche, Pietrabbondante, Poggio Sannita, Pozzilli, Sant'Agapito and Venafro in the province of Isernia. The vineyards are situated in sunny hilly areas at an altitude of 500 to 600 metres above sea level. The Bianco is made from Falanghina (80%), Trebbiano Toscano (15-20%), and other authorised varieties (max. 5%). Rosso (also as Riserva) and Rosato are blended from Montepulciano (75-80%), Tintilia = Tintilia del Molise (20-25%), as well as other approved varieties (max. 5%).
