One of the three winegrowing regions in Slovenia along the border too Croatia, which is named after the Savje tributary (Save). It is located in the south of the country and borders the wine-growing region in the north Podravje, Posavje is divided into the three wine regions Bela Krajina (White Carniola) with 608 hectares, Bizeljsko Sremič with 1,264 hectares and by far the largest Dolenjska (Lower Carniola) with 2,456 hectares. The vineyards cover a total of 4,328 hectares of vineyards. The majority of white wines are produced here. Important white wine varieties are Laski Riesling ( ) Sauvignon Blanc, Beli Pinot ( Pinot Blanc ) Chardonnay, Rizvanac ( Müller-Thurgau ) and Bela Zlathnina ( Chasselas ).
