The appellation is located in central France in the winegrowing region Loire in the neighborhood of the appellation Quincy about 70 km from the Loire. It was already in 1937 AC status for white wine, rose and red wine followed in 1961. It is a very old wine-growing area, which was first mentioned in writing in the 9th century. The document in question states that Reuilly was bequeathed to the Abbey of Saint-Denis by King Dagobert I (608 / 610-639), with his lands, forests and vineyards. The area includes the seven municipalities Cerbois, Chéry, Diou, Lazenay Lury, Preuilly and Reuilly in the two départements Indre and Cher,
The vineyards cover about 200 hectares on a limestone base with sand and gravel deposits on the banks of the three rivers Cher, Théols and Arnon. It is continental climate in front. The white wines will be unmixed out Sauvignon Blanc vinified. The red and rosé wines are made mainly Pinot Noir (with about 50% of the area) and Pinot gris blended. Well known producers include Bernard Aujard, Domaine Henri Beurdin, Francois Charpentier, Gerard Cordier, Pascal Desroches, Claude Lafond, Les Poëte, Denis Jamain - Domaine de Reilly, Domaine Valéry Renaudat, Jean-Michel Sorbe and Jacques Vincent.
