Description to Saint Joseph AOC

Classified as Cru (Top Appellation) area in the northern section of the Rhone on the right bank. It stretches for 50 kilometers from Condrieu in the north to Saint-Péray in the south. The vineyards cover about 900 hectares of vineyards in 26 municipalities in the two départements Ardèche and Loire. The center of Saint-Joseph is the town of Tournon, located on the banks of the Rhône opposite the Hermitage mountain. The wine was already appreciated by the French kings in the 16th century. He was also one of the favorite wines the French writer Victor Hugo (1802-1885), the creator of the novel "The Hunchback of Notre Dame".
