Description to Valcalepio DOC

DOC area for reds and whites in the Italian region Lombardy, The name means "valley of the Calepio" (here the Conte Calepio possessions once had). The area includes, in its entirety, the municipalities of Carobbio degli Angeli, Cenate Sotto, Credaro, Entratico, Gandosso, Ranica, San Paolo d'Argon, Torre de 'Roveri, Villa di Serio and Villongo, as well as parts of 41 municipalities in the west of Lago d 'Iseo in the Calepio Valley in the province of Bergamo. Additional geographic anagbes are allowed for the Moscato Passito, these are Gandosso, Grumello del Monte, Cenate Sotto, Torre de 'Roveri, Albano Sant'Alessandro and Carobbio degli Angeli.

The dry Bianco is made from Pinot Bianco = Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay (55-80%), as well as Pinot Grigio Pinot gris (20-45%) pressed. The dry Rosso is out Merlot (40-75%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (25-60%) produced. With an aging of three years he is allowed Riserva call. The sweet Moscato Passito is made from dried grapes of the variety Moscato di Scanzo (a descendant of Muscat Blanc).
