Description to Valencay AOVDQS
The appellation is located in the south-east of the Touraine area in the French wine region of the Loire. The former VDQS area was classified in 2004. The vineyards cover around 150 hectares of vines in 14 communes on the banks of the Loire tributary Cher. Red wine and rosé are blended from Gamay Noir (minimum 30 to maximum 60%), Pinot Noir and Côt (minimum 10% each), and optionally additionally Cabernet Franc and (only if there were stocks before 2004) Cabernet Sauvignon. For the rosé, Pineau d'Aunis (max. 30%) is also allowed. The white wine is made from Sauvignon Blanc (70%), Arbois Blanc (Menu Pineau) and Chardonnay.
