Description to Vermentino di Gallura DOCG

DOCG area for white wine in the north-east corner (the "Gallura") of the Italian region of Sardinia. It was the first on the island to receive DOCG classification in 1996. The zone includes the municipalities of Aggius, Aglientu, Arzachena, Badesi, Berchidda, Bortigadas, Calangianus, Golfo Aranci, Loiri Porto San Paolo, Luogosanto, Luras, Monti, Olbia, Oschiri, Palau, San Antonio di Gallura, Santa Teresa di Gallura, Telti, Tempio Pausania, Trinità d'Agulto and Viddalba in the province of Sassari, and Budoni and San Teodoro in the province of Nuoro. If the grapes come from classified vineyards, Vigna followed by the vineyard name can be indicated on the bottle label

The wine must be made from at least 95% Vermentino, up to a maximum of 5% other authorised varieties. There are also the wine types Superiore (with higher alcohol content), Frizzante, Spumante, Spumante Metodo classico (with bottle fermentation), Passito and Vendemmia tardiva (late harvest).
