DOCG area for red Spumante in the Italian region Brands, The DOC classification, which has existed since 1971, was raised to DOCG in 2003. The zone includes the eponymous municipality Serrapetrona and partly the municipalities Belforte del Chienti and San Severino Marche in the province of Macerata. A sparkling wine was produced here as early as the 15th century. It is made from slightly dried Vernaccia Nera grapes Garnacha Tinta (85%) and Sangiovese. Montepulciano and Ciliegiolo (max. 15%) pressed in the two variants secco and dolce. It may be the label Vigna (from hilly area) can be used.
