Description to Vin de Corse AOC

The general appellation applies to the entire area of the France counting island Corsica, The vineyards cover almost 2,000 hectares of vineyards. The white wine is made from at least 75% Vermentino and a maximum of 25% Ugni Blanc ( Trebbiano Toscano ) pressed. Red wine and rosé are made from at least 50% nielluccio ( Sangiovese ), Sciacarello ( mammolo ) and Grenache Noir ( Garnacha Tinta ), to Cinsault, Mourvèdre ( Monastrell ) Barbarossa and Syrah, as well as a maximum of 20% Carignan Noir ( mazuelo ) and Vermentino blended.

Six sub-regions can add their names. These are Calvi-Balagne (north of Ajaccio), Coteaux du Cap Corse (northern peninsula), Côte orientale (east coast between Bastia and Solenzara), Figari (between Sartène and Porto Vecchio), Porto Vecchio (port city in the southeast) and Sartène (south of Ajaccio ). Important producers are Domaine de Canella, Domaine Culombu, Domaine Filippi, Domaine Gentile, Clos Landry, Domaine Maestracci, Clos Nicrosi, Domaine de Piana, Poggio d'Oro, Clos Reginu and Domaine de Tizziano.
