Description to Vin de Savoie AOC

Appellation for red wines, rosé wines, white wines and sparkling wines in the French wine-growing region of Savoie. The vineyards at an altitude of 250 to 560 metres above sea level cover over 1,700 hectares of vines on the slopes of the foothills of the Savoy Alps. They are located in the departments of Savoie (28 communes), Haute-Savoie (24 communes), Ain (communes of Corbonod and Seyssel) and Isère (commune of Chapareillan). The AOC area of Roussette de Savoie forms an enclave.

Grape varieties

The red and rosé wines are blended from the main varieties Gamay, Mondeuse Noire and Pinot Noir, plus a maximum of 10% Persan, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Etraire de l'Aduï, Sérène (Servanin) and Joubertin. The white wines are produced from the main varieties Aligoté, Roussette (Altesse), Chardonnay, Frühroter Veltliner, Jacquère and Mondeuse Blanche. In addition, there are Bergeron (Roussanne), Gringet and Roussette d'Ayze in the Haute-Savoie département. The proportion of the secondary varieties Marsanne and Verdesse may not exceed 10%.
