The winery is located in the municipality of Retzstadt (Maindreieck area) in the German wine-growing region of Franconia. The estate has been producing its own wines since 2004, although the family has had its own vineyards for over three generations. By linking the family production businesses to form the "Koch family of winegrowers", Andreas Koch has succeeded in putting together a manageable range of his own wines. The vineyards in the Retztal and adjacent Maintal cover five hectares of vineyards in the single vineyards Benediktusberg (Retzbach), Langenberg (Retzstadt) and Stein (Stetten). They are mainly planted with the white wine varieties Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Rieslaner, Kernling and Pinot Gris, as well as with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Domina. The vineyards are cultivated in a conventional, environmentally friendly way according to the philosophy of the house "in harmony with nature".
As a certified Slow Food producer, the winery pays special attention to varietal and parcel typicity during vinification. Some of the wines are fermented under refrigeration or matured on the lees (sur lie). The red wines, on the other hand, are matured in barriques or in large wooden barrels. The wines are produced in the three lines "New Franconia", "Classic Franconia" and "Exotic Franconia". The premium wines include QUERICUS Benediktusberg Spätburgunder Spätlese dry, Langenberg Rieslaner Spätlese dry and Langenberg BAROCK Silvaner Spätlese dry. Around 12,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. The winery also offers services related to wine and nature. Senorchef Monika Koch is a trained guest guide Weinerlebnis Franken and organises guided vineyard walks with tasting "Experience wine where it grows". Andreas Koch is a member of the young winemakers' association Generation Riesling.
